As the global economic order continues to evolve amidst geopolitical tension, policy shifts, and market volatility, vntr.vc hosted an insightful Investor Roundtable on April 4, 2025, at GIBS Business School, Bengaluru. The event, themed "The Impact of Geopolitical Events on Global Investment Trends", brought together leading voices from the venture capital and startup world to explore how these shifts are influencing strategies, decisions, and opportunities in India and beyond.
Moderated by Siddarth “Sid” Baliga (Chapter Director, vntr.vc & Co-founder, The S.W.A.D.E.S Style) and Hari Prakash Karcherla (Professor of Practice, GIBS Business School), the session was dynamic, honest, and rich with actionable insights.
Manish Dsouza, OutNorm, was very optimistic. “The India story is strong—as investors, we’re looking for economic and governance stability, and India is ticking both boxes right now.”, he said. Ajay Rungta echoed this view and spoke on India’s evolving role in the global supply chain: “India is poised to be the next major hub for manufacturing. The momentum is building, and we must capitalize on it.”
The conversation delved deep into how trade tensions, economic sanctions, and shifting diplomatic dynamics are actively reshaping global capital flows. As the regulatory landscape continues to evolve, especially in emerging markets, the discussion emphasized the importance of strategic adaptability to remain competitive. Abhay Tandon, 3to1 Capital emphasized the importance of alignment between startups and fund expectations. Panelists also explored the critical role investors can play in fostering resilience and driving innovation, even amidst heightened volatility and uncertainty.
Rishav Agarwal, Picxele spotlighted the changing employment dynamics: “With Gen Z embracing gig work, we’re going to see a major uptick in employment opportunities—especially in digital-first sectors.”
The April 4th Investor Roundtable was more than just a discussion—it was a timely convergence of insight, optimism, and clarity in the face of global uncertainty. As India positions itself at the forefront of investment and innovation, the perspectives shared at this event underscore the importance of agility, foresight, and collaboration between investors and founders alike.
From economic stability and manufacturing potential to the rise of gig-driven employment models, the roundtable offered a clear lens into how the Indian ecosystem is evolving in response to global currents.
