Skimmy was always inclined towards connecting with varied people and helping them with their issues. She found the route of journalism a great vehicle to pursue her passion for writing and interacting with people.
She has done honours in B.A. (English) from Guru Nanak Dev University and is a triple post graduate from diplomas in marketing, exports and business management. Her command in the English Language and the degree helped her conduct interviews with celebrated people and write impactful articles in India’s leading dailies like Indian Express, Mid-Day and Times of India.
Her post graduate diploma in export and business management helped her understand the corporate world, start-up culture and the business climate.
Hailing from a non-metro Amritsar, it was tough for Gupta to report hard-hitting city stories during her stint at Indian Express in Punjab. However, she had the zest and passion to become the leading journalist of Amritsar.
New to the city of Mumbai, her first job at Mid-Day taught her how to cultivate different news sources, network with different agencies and create a mark in the journalism space.
The launch of Skimmy’s start-up ‘misskoffeetales’ was challenging because she was exploring the next phase of life as an entrepreneur. Her social circle during her journalism days was a great support system as it helped her start-up grow and prosper. “Journalism has the power to change the world and help solve society's problems to a large extent.” Many of Gupta’s articles woke up the relevant corporate/government authorities, which in turn helped the aggrieved readers. As a beverage influencer, many celebrities and famous brands featured on ‘misskoffeetales’ received recognition and business orders.
Skimmy’s future plans include covering a wider spectrum of achievers across fields like technology, healthcare, sports and other industries while the prime focus continues to be on Bollywood, luxury fashion and lifestyle. A number of Gupta’s exclusive, breaking stories were featured on the front page of Mid-day. She has successfully interviewed Bollywood stars, politicians, leading police commissioners etc..
She proudly mentions famous personalities like Kartik Aryan, Shweta Bachchan and Ranveer Brar who have collaborated with ‘misskoffeetales’ in the past.
In the end, the key message to fellow entrepreneurs from Skimmy’s side would be "That great, niche-packed content on social media always resonates with the buyer community and delivers maximum impact as desired."
