Krafton India, the publisher behind the wildly popular game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), has announced the six gaming startups selected for the second cohort of its ambitious Gaming Incubator Programme. The initiative underscores Krafton’s commitment to nurturing homegrown talent and fueling innovation in India’s fast-growing gaming ecosystem.
Launched to empower early-stage developers and creative entrepreneurs, the Gaming Incubator Programme offers selected startups access to funding, mentorship, and technical support. The second edition of the program attracted significant interest from across the country, with a final shortlist of six startups chosen based on their originality, potential for growth, and alignment with industry trends.
The CEO of Krafton India highlighted that the program extends beyond mere financial assistance, focusing on establishing a robust base for the future of gaming in India. "India possesses significant creative potential in the interactive entertainment sector. With this initiative, our goal is to equip emerging studios with the necessary tools, guidance, and exposure for their success," he stated.
The selected startups will benefit from a hands-on mentorship experience led by industry veterans and access to Krafton’s global resources and technical expertise. The cohort will also receive support in game design, marketing strategies, and monetization models, enabling them to scale and refine their projects for a broader audience.
The program’s first cohort, launched in 2023, saw several success stories, with participants gaining recognition and partnerships that elevated their presence in the Indian and global markets. Building on this momentum, the second batch is expected to contribute significantly to the evolving narrative of India as a hub for original and globally competitive gaming content.
With India's gaming industry experiencing rapid growth, boasting around 500 million gamers and an anticipated valuation of $8.6 billion by 2027, initiatives such as Krafton’s incubator are essential in developing the ecosystem and supporting the creators of the future.
In the coming months, the six chosen startups will present prototypes and engage in collaborative sessions, with the potential for further investment and publishing deals. This initiative fuels aspiring developers' dreams and signals a growing industry shift toward innovation, localization, and creator-led growth in India’s digital entertainment sector.
