Pratiksha Akar – Entrepreneurship is not about the destination, it is about the journey, and the more difficult and challenging it is, the more special and richer it becomes. When things come easy, we often forget about their value. No amount of spadework can prepare one for the life of an entrepreneur. I was born into a family of businesspeople, and I’ve watched my father, grandfather, and great-grandfather build themselves as businessmen. They have instilled qualities of hard work, determination and gifted me the acumen required to start and run a business. They also made me realize that this is what I want to do in my life. I knew that I wanted to work for myself and build a brand that I could call my own. I knew that I didn’t want to work under anyone, I wanted to be my own boss and conduct the affairs of my business.
Running a business of my own was a dream come true but also a turbulent one full of ups and downs, as there are with any adventure. My journey as an entrepreneur has made me appreciate the ups as well as the downs. The downs have given me experience that I would have never encountered if I didn’t step out of my shell and started a business. To learn something from the challenges is far more valuable than anything money could bring. It is a never-ending learning experience.
My objective when I started was to reflect where I came from, and what my roots were. I wanted to pay homage to India’s rich and diverse culture and give back to my country. I wanted to create employment, make a difference in the community and I’ve been trying to do so since day one.
